Our boys are doing so well this year. They are challenged and happy and love coming to school. It is so good for them to learn the value of Christian education. -Current Parent
At MCS we are committed to academic excellence as we seek to help each student develop their God-given abilities to the fullest potential, enhancing their ability to shine in all they do in order to bring glory to our Heavenly Father.
- Core Areas: Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Bible.
- Specials: Spanish (1-8); Art (K-8); Music (K-5); PE (K-8); Choir (4-8); Band (5-8); Music Appreciation (6-8).
- We are on a 5-year cycle of reviewing each of the curricular areas.
- Our curriculum is not textbook dependent, but based on the knowledge, skills and the Christian perspective that we want the students to acquire.
- We offer tutoring and gifted programming for qualifying students, coordinated through our Student Advocate.
- Our curriculum is based on the State of Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs), but is not directly written from them. At MCS, we teach the concepts and ideas behind the GLCE’s and conduct curriculum studies comparing our curriculum to check for gaps. Topics beyond those contained in the GLCEs are also offered at MCS, as we believe they are vital to understanding the world and Our Creator. We pride ourselves in exceeding academic expectations, while teaching and applying a Christian perspective in all we do in and outside the classroom.
- Michigan Education Assessment Program (MEAP): Standardized test scores support the fact that MCS offers a high quality academic experience. While we do not make standardized test taking a focus of our curriculum, MCS consistently scores well above the average and is consistently the highest or among the highest in the area.
