Mrs. Ritsema developed the Muskegon Christian School Preschool program in 1972 and has taught preschoolers at MCS for 36 years.  The program has expanded from the original 3 mornings per week to 3 full days and 2 half days per week, serving three-year-olds and four-year-olds.  In 2003, Maryl headed the establishment and management of the MCS Child Care Program which has expanded and improved each year under the leadership of Jan Westerhof.

Maryl holds a B.A. from Hope College and a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from Grand Valley State University.

Mrs. Ritsema and her husband own Hage's Christian Supplies where she holds a Story Hour - Reading Club every summer.  Maryl enjoys reading, cross-word puzzles, cooking, gardening, babysitting her 7 grandchildren and writing.
