3 Year Old Preschool - Mrs. Ritsema

MUSKEGON CHRISTIAN PRESCHOOL...BRIGHT BEGINNINGS

3 year old Program (Tuesday-Thursday)

 Welcome to Preschool!

This is the beginning of an exciting year of activities. Our goal is to provide your child with experiences that will develop and improve his or her preschool skills. Getting along with others, taking care of our things, and learning school behavior are also high on our learning list.

Your child may wish to bring a bag or backpack to school to help him or her carry home our many projects. Backpacks are put in your child's cubby when he or she enters the preschool room. Anything your child brings to school from home will also be kept in his or her backpack. Children should be dressed for outdoor play as we try to play outside every day. We consider learning to take our outdoor clothing on and off as part of our curriculum.

At the beginning of each month, parents will receive a letter of monthly activities.

These activities are not always set in stone, but they do give you an idea what we are discussing. We do paint often and although we do wear paint shirts, some spills or paint spots are inevitable. If you will be devastated if your child gets a spot of paint on a certain article of clothing, please do not send you child to school in those clothes.

We have snack every day. Children take turns bringing enough snacks for the whole class on the date indicated on the monthly schedule. At this time, we have 16 children in the class. Children are asked to take a courtesy bite of each snack. Many times they decide they like something once they haven tried it.

White milk and/or chocolate milk is provided by our Preschool. Children may also drink water. If your child prefers milk, he or she will pour their own milk. They may have as little or as much as they pour BUT they do have to finish any milk they pour into their cup. Even if your child does not drink milk at home, you may be surprised to see them drink it at school when they get to pour it and 'everyone else‘ is drinking it! Please let me know immediately if your child is allergic to milk, chocolate or any other food!

Just as academic subjects such as math readiness, pre-writing skills, language, health and science are integrated into our curriculum, so is our Christian faith woven into our daily activities. We use songs, books, and prayer to introduce Christian principles and we also present each unit as a part of God's World.

Many times parents ask if there is anything we need for the classroom. We can always use rolls of paper towels, magic erasers, soft tissues, paper plates, and brown paper lunch bags. If you have any questions during the school year, feel free to call me at home during the evening (798-4760) or at school during the day (773-3221 ext. 113). I do check my school e-mail every day if you wish to communicate with me via e-mail. My e-mail address is mritsema@mchristianschool.com . I am looking forward to a fun year with your children.

Sincerely.

Mrs. Maryl Ritsema
